Job Summary
Implement and continuously improve the trade compliance program for Saab's Land Systems division, ensuring adherence to ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. and international trade laws. Partner with key functions to develop export licensing strategies, draft license applications, and submit requests through U.S. Government systems while tracking case progress. Serve as an Empowered Official to guide decision-making, translate corporate policies into local procedures, and standardize practices across locations. Monitor regulatory changes, advise management on risk mitigation, and support audits, training, and compliance briefings for foreign affiliates. Coordinate with government agencies and stakeholders to resolve authorization issues and ensure all license provisos are followed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience with the ITAR, EAR, and other applicable trade regulations, or a Master's degree with 8+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience partnering with engineering teams on USML/ECCN classification determinations and improving product marking, labeling, and related workflows
- Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a Security Clearance
- Ability to travel 5%-10%, domestically and possibly internationally
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with classification, BATFE permanent import licensing, and the compliant shipment of explosive materials and other defense articles on the U.S. Munitions Import List
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain issues and requirements rather than simply stating them
- Experience working with foreign entities and an appreciation of cultural differences
- Ability to work independently as well as under direction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform and manage multiple substantive and administrative activities concurrently
