Job Summary
Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Set up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation while drawing, analyzing, and reporting Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs. Deliver intermittent therapy and assist with changing artificial airways as ordered by a physician, reviewing and documenting all clinical information including psycho-social and safety criteria. Comply with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards, ensuring adherence to the Ochsner Health System Compliance & Privacy Program. Requires a current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license, National Board certification, and proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry. Flexible 24/7 schedule with weekend, holiday, and on-call availability; potential exposure to communicable diseases.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current State of Louisiana License as a Respiratory Therapist
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
