Job Summary
Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Set up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation; draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs. Deliver intermittent therapy and assist with changing artificial airways as ordered by a physician, while reviewing and documenting all clinical information. Maintain knowledge of current laws and accreditation standards to ensure compliance with Ochsner Health policies. Requires a Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license, NBRC certification, and proficiency with Windows applications. Work a flexible schedule including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current State of Louisiana License as a Respiratory Therapist
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
