Job Summary
Perform comprehensive MRI examinations by preparing patients, screening for contraindications, and administering contrast media under physician supervision. Analyze imaging results to determine optimal scanning parameters, minimize artifacts, and provide diagnostic observations to attending radiologists. Monitor patient vitals during scans, perform CPR if necessary, and counsel patients on safety risks while obtaining consent for research exams. Manage patient records in the Radiology Information System, ensure proper archiving to PACS, and troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions. Maintain equipment safety policies, restock supplies, and provide instruction on MRI procedures to residents and fellows. Review and quality control own and others' work, update educational materials, and assist with prototype coil evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist
- Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA approved school
- registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- knowledge of magnetic fields and patient safety requirements
- clear and concise communications skills (verbal and written)
- ability to exercise independent judgment to tailor examinations for acquisition of accurate anatomic and pathophysiologic data relative to patient's clinical presentation
