Job Summary

Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures including transthoracic, transesophageal, stress echocardiograms, and Dobutamine stress tests while assessing patient history and selecting appropriate imaging protocols. Accurately document findings, maintain quality assurance standards, and educate patients before, during, and after procedures while following infection prevention practices. Maintain and troubleshoot cardiac ultrasound equipment to support efficient department operations and collaborate with cardiologists and interdisciplinary teams. Requires ARDMS or ARRT certification, BLS within six months of hire, and 1.5 years of professional imaging experience. Full-time role at Hilo Benioff Medical Center in East Hawaiʻi with 13 paid holidays, 21 vacation days, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a certificate or associate degree and two (2) years of professional radiologic experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and qualifying experience
  • One and one-half (11⁄2) years of professional imaging technologist experience
  • One (1) year of specialized experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations with demonstrated knowledge of ultrasound equipment, ultrasound physics, medical terminology, and departmental protocols
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible specialty imaging experience
  • At least one (1) year in each of two or more imaging modalities (such as echocardiography, CT, MRI, angiography, cardiac catheterization, mammography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, ultrasound, or vascular imaging)
  • Current ARDMS (RDMS) or ARRT (Sonography) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of hire
