Job Summary
Image Processing Engineer III/IV responsible for acting as the principal technical authority for advanced optical payload and image processing applications. Balances high-level technical oversight with hands-on development and evaluation of flight-ready computer vision and image processing algorithms, bridging hardware capabilities with software execution to advance autonomous processing for space missions. Responsibilities include technical oversight of algorithm development, designing and evaluating real-time image processing and computer vision algorithms for object detection and tracking, evaluating EO/IR sensor performance, and architecting scalable algorithms that transition from initial tracking to close-range, resolved target processing for mission concepts.
Required Qualifications
- Required Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Optical Sciences, or related technical discipline
- Core Technical Skills: Deep expertise in image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition; proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++; EO/IR sensor modeling, radiometric budgets, and optical system performance metrics
- Soft Skills & Domain Expertise: Experience managing technical milestones and requirements with external vendors or subcontractors; familiarity with space-based operational domains or satellite subsystem constraints
- Years of Experience: 8 to 12+ years in image processing and computer vision engineering, preferably in aerospace/defense/space systems
