Job Summary

Executive Director leads NREC as the chief executive officer, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and external representation. Responsible for advancing the council’s mission to enhance nutrient utilization, increase crop production, and protect water quality through grantmaking, education/outreach, and stakeholder engagement. Oversees the Research Director, coordinates conferences and events, translates funded research for diverse audiences, builds partnerships with farmers, industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers, and ensures governance, budgeting, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. The role emphasizes lean operations, collaboration with contractors and partners, and serving as the public face of NREC to advance nutrient stewardship and environmental sustainability in Illinois. A bachelor’s degree is expected with five years of progressive leadership experience; advanced degrees are beneficial; remote work options exist with a Springfield or Bloomington, Illinois base.”,
