Job Summary
Provide trauma-informed counselling services to Aboriginal people affected by child sexual abuse and family violence, utilizing evidence-based counselling and case management skills. Support families and children in vulnerable or disadvantaged communities to improve positive social and emotional wellbeing while adhering to Aboriginal Terms of Reference and cultural competency. Engage with clients and relevant stakeholders to build strong working relationships, managing cases independently or within a team. Requires a minimum Diploma in Counselling with three years' experience, a valid driver's license, and a National Police Certificate. Applications close 27th August 2026.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Diploma in Counselling (or higher relevant qualification)
- A minimum of three years' experience in the field
- Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based counselling and case management skills working in the area of child sexual abuse and family violence
- An understanding of issues that impact on Aboriginal people
- Experience in supporting families and children, particularly those who are vulnerable, at risk or in disadvantaged communities, to improve positive social and emotional wellbeing
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal Terms of Reference and cultural competency
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with and building strong working relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience to work independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft applications and database management
- A Valid Driver's License
- National Police Certificate not less than six (6) months old
- Working with Children Check
