Ignition SCADA Developer

Job Summary

Maintain the Ignition SCADA platform, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security while developing, configuring, and supporting Ignition projects including Perspective/Vision screens, tags, alarms, and historical data. Troubleshoot application-level issues, manage upgrades, patching, backups, and disaster recovery, and configure communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, Ethernet, and MQTT. Support gateway configurations, user access, and system testing, while creating reusable UDTs and documenting standards. Collaborate with teams to resolve operational challenges and identify automation opportunities. Requires 5+ years of SCADA experience, Python proficiency, and Ignition 8.0+ certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • knowledge of application and project structures
  • data modeling concepts
  • visualization tools
  • scripting or programming languages
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Must adhere to good programming practices, including clean code, documentation, and structured testing
  • Experience should focus on SCADA application development, design, and/or operations using Inductive Automation Ignition or another industrial SCADA platform
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including security concepts and communication protocols
  • Proven experience with at least one programming or scripting language
  • Experience and familiarity with Ignition project structure, tag architecture, and visualization components (Perspective and/or Vision)
  • Experience creating and maintaining UDTs and reusable templates driven by structured data models
  • Experience developing data-driven screens and dashboards using standardized templates and attributes
  • Experience implementing and supporting Ignition alarming, historical data, and reporting features
  • Certified with Ignition 8.0 or greater

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with languages (VBScript/Java/C#)
  • Knowledge of upgrades and Disaster Recovery
  • Experience working with PLC-based systems and common industrial controllers
  • Allen-Bradley experience
