Job Summary
Teach required material to students using varied instructional strategies and technology; plan instruction to meet individual and group needs; follow SOL teaching guidelines; keep accurate records; model positive behavior and avoid singling out students; collaborate with the School Principal and other staff to maintain a successful Education program; inform fellow Teachers, House Parents, Therapists, and Case Managers of student progress and focus areas for each student; assist in monitoring lunch periods and supervise students during the school day; present information for weekly Evaluation Team Meetings; requires a 4-year degree and Virginia teaching certification; residential setting experience; supports at-risk youth through comprehensive instructional and behavioral support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis on secondary education.
- Certification by the Virginia State Department of Education.
- Possess knowledge in the field of instruction.
- Possess skills and abilities to positively interact with students, maintain discipline, and promote a positive learning environment.
- Ability to maintain all required documentation.
- Effectively challenge, nurture and develop the educational abilities of at-risk youth in a residential setting.
