Job Summary
Organize and manage the IEP process and documentation in assigned schools while chairing IEP Team meetings and accepting referrals. Assist in gathering pertinent information, prepare agendas, and monitor updates to special education records to ensure compliance with IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE policy. Act as a liaison for discipline-related problems and help interpret special education policy for staff and parents. Provide guidance to school teams and administration, offer professional development, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. This 11-month exempt role supports the Director for Compliance and requires a Bachelor's degree with three years of special education teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree
- Maryland Standard Professional Certificate with special education endorsement
- Three (3) years of satisfactory special education classroom teaching experience
- Knowledge and experience with IEP procedures
- Knowledge and experience in administering and interpreting educational assessments
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and planning skills in an educational environment
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally and discreetly with confidential information
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp
- Visual acuity to use a keyboard
- Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
