Job Summary
Model best teaching practices and provide one-on-one support to classroom teachers while facilitating inquiry and district-wide professional development. Guide educators in implementing adopted curricula, pacing, and research-based strategies for state and district assessments. Collaborate with administrators and special education staff to design intervention plans, solve challenges, and coordinate district-wide initiatives including material adoption and inventory management. Conduct in-service workshops and coaching trainings to advance NSBSD pedagogy and staff development goals. Maintain confidentiality, analyze data for presentations, and adhere to all state guidelines and professional standards. Requires an Alaska Teaching Certificate, five years teaching experience, and willingness to travel across the district by air.
Required Qualifications
- Alaska Teaching Certificate
- Experience with diverse cultures
- Willingness to perform itinerant travel across the District, with a minimum of one visit per quarter, per year
- Five years' minimum teaching experience
- Ability to maintain the absolute confidentiality of personal, confidential and proprietary information
- Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data for presentations
- Ability to meet state and federal guidelines and time lines for reporting
- Ability to support schools with the Alaska School Improvement
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and on collaborative projects
- Ability to fly in small and large commuter planes
Desired Qualifications
- Iñupiaq Speaking and Cultural Experience
- Experience with School Improvement
- Master's degree in math or reading with math/reading endorsement
- Rural Alaska teaching experience
- Experience in and teaching the new Alaska State Standards and Alaska Cultural Standards
- Experience providing staff development to teachers
- Extensive Knowledge of and Training in the application of current pedagogy
