Job Summary
IDD Special Education Teacher responsible for evaluating functioning level and needs of service users from an educational perspective, developing and implementing individualized education plans as part of an Interdisciplinary Team, designing curriculum and classroom activities, monitoring progress, coordinating with other departments, maintaining documentation and ensuring confidentiality and age-appropriate interactions. Requires a B.S. in Special Education (or related field) and willingness to obtain birth to kindergarten certification; driving license may be required; certifications (CPR/First Aid/NCI/CPI as specified) and DPI credentialing maintained. Strong emphasis on quality education programs, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and delivery of educational services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and related health needs.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Special Education or related field in early childhood education
- A willingness to obtain birth to kindergarten certification upon request/and or as needed
- A valid driver’s license may be required
- Maintain requirements for annual or 5 year cycle certification through the Department of Public Instruction
- Maintenance current/valid Teaching certification/license, or actively working towards requirements for such as deemed appropriate
- Maintain birth to kindergarten certification when obtained
- Maintain proficiency in company sponsored/required training
- CPR, First Aid, NCI A, NCI B, CPI may be required by state/federal standards/regulations and/or company policy
- Pre-employment screening: criminal background, OIG, etc.
- Proof of driving license/insurance and vehicle if transporting service users
