Idaho Floor Coating Specialist

Job Summary

Install specialty flooring and chemical-resistant coating systems, including epoxy, urethane, and slurry, while performing surface preparation via grinding, shot blasting, and cleaning. Follow manufacturer specifications, OSHA protocols, and site-specific safety requirements to work safely around industrial materials and maintain a clean work area. Operate as part of a crew in industrial and commercial environments, meeting quality and production standards while adhering to union requirements and collective bargaining agreements.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman Status: Verified completion of a union apprenticeship program (usually 3 years) through organizations like the Finishing Trades Institute of Idaho
  • Union Membership: Active and in good standing with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT)
  • Several years of hands-on experience in commercial and industrial painting, including surface prep, masking, brushing, rolling, mixing, squeegee, and back rolling
  • OSHA 30-hour safety certification
  • Respirator Fit Test Card
  • Fall Protection and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) training
  • Reliable transportation
  • Consistent attendance
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Must pass a F4D test

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with flooring specialty coatings and/or chemical-resistant coating systems
  • Previous industrial or commercial coating experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments (kneeling, lifting, standing for long periods)
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces, high work, or industrial settings as required
  • Must be able to comply with union requirements
  • Ability to apply a wide range of coatings (slurries, epoxies, urethanes)
  • Familiarity with industrial surface prep methods (e.g., sandblasting, power tool cleaning, grinding)
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and hazardous material handling
  • Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding, or in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for long periods
  • Willingness to work outdoors in Idaho's climate
  • Great attitude
