Job Summary
Perform therapeutic apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, and stem cell harvests. Manage patient status relative to apheresis using the nursing process and laboratory results, while assessing medication compatibility and safety. Coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Work variable 1st shift Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duties. Requires current state licensure as a Registered Nurse, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required by the start of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination
