Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Conduct venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and manage vortex and bard ports while assessing patient status relative to procedures. Coordinate with physicians and external healthcare personnel to arrange treatments and facilitate care, acting as a consultant on clinical apheresis. Evaluate medication compatibility for safety and maintain supplies and equipment in readiness. Work variable first shift Monday through Friday with rotating on-call duties. Requires current RN licensure, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
