Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, and stem cell harvests. Execute venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and manage vortex and bard ports while assessing patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses at various hospitals to arrange treatments and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Evaluate medication compatibility, assemble and maintain supplies, and explain procedures to patients and families. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duty.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
