Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency room, and freestanding outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments, and evaluate medication compatibility for safety. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Work variable 1st shift Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week with rotating on-calls. Requires current state licensure as a Registered Nurse, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. No prior apheresis experience is required; comprehensive training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
