Job Summary
Productive Playhouse is seeking an on-site Icelandic Transcriber in Orlando, FL to convert audio and video recordings into written text. Responsibilities include transcribing content accurately according to project-specific conventions, following formatting, punctuation, and grammar guidelines, maintaining knowledge of client-written Domain Conventions and privacy policies, proofreading transcripts, meeting deadlines, and suggesting process improvements. Qualifications include a 40 WPM typing speed in Icelandic, strong grammar and punctuation, ability to learn client style guides, proficiency with Mac/PC, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, excellent communication and confidentiality, and the ability to work 8–40 hours per week on-site. Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship) and be 18+. Minimum transportation to commute to on-site facilities is required. The role focuses on producing high-quality Icelandic transcripts while adhering to client guidelines and maintaining data security.
Required Qualifications
- Typing speed of 40 WPM in Icelandic (is_is) or higher
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong punctuation, grammar, and spelling
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to client-specific style guides and written domain conventions
- Proficiency with Mac and PC platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to listen to and handle sensitive information with professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality
- High school diploma or equivalent, additional training in linguistics, transcription, or related fields is a plus
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; the company does not provide any work sponsorship
- Minimum age: 18 years or older
- Reliable transportation to commute to on-site facilities
- Proficiency in reading and typing in the specific language applied for, with the ability to understand a wide range of accents and dialects; candidates will be required to pass a language assessment test
