Job Summary
Instruct skating lessons in accordance with the District curriculum, teaching skills essential to the skater's development and progress. Maintain records including attendance and progress reports while responding appropriately to participant and facility emergencies by completing incident logs. Assist with Ice Show, competitions, exhibitions, and special events at Centennial Ice Arena. Possess knowledge of skating maneuvers and understand skill levels to teach in a progressive and safe manner. Follow all Park District policies, including emergency and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old
- some high school experience
- up to one month of related experience or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- American Red Cross CPR/AED
- Safe Sport Certified
- US Figure Skating Member in good standing
- Learn to Skate USA™ Instructor Certification
- Possess knowledge of skating maneuvers
- Understand skill levels
- teach in a progressive and safe manner
- Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to participant and facility emergencies
- completion of accident/incident or minor injury log
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
