Job Summary
Operate the Zamboni and related equipment to maintain ice surfaces, resurfacing and maintenance according to schedule. Perform general cleaning and janitorial tasks including the lobby, washrooms, office, locker, and meeting rooms. Supervise cashier, skate guard, and party attendant staff while conducting hourly facility walkthroughs to complete daily checklists. Oversee facility operations, including nightly closing procedures, opening in the morning, and preparing the rink for special events. Actively participate in the Emergency Action Plan and lead staff response in emergency situations. Handle all contacts with the public pleasantly, courteously, and professionally. Complete safety reports and records as required, reporting all accidents and incidents immediately.
Required Qualifications
- At least 21 years old or older
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience driving a Zamboni, managing staff, and managing a facility
- Must possess a valid Driver's Licenses
- Must possess CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or willing to obtain within one month of hire
- Must pass the Glencoe Park District Vehicle Training
- All employees must pass a criminal background check
- Must wear the uniform while on duty
- Required to work weekends and evenings
- Must demonstrate safety awareness and judgment and follow safety protocol
- Must be dependable and flexible, demonstrating strong safety awareness and sound judgment
- Ability to understand and follow rules, procedures, and instructions
- Ability to read, write, and organize materials effectively
- Strong knowledge of ice making and ice maintenance
- Understanding of the philosophy of public recreation, with the ability to effectively communicate it to others
- Demonstrated technical knowledge relevant to the position
