Job Summary
Deliver and assess learners in the Level 3 Apiculture Programme, covering both practical and theoretical components including hive management, bee health, and seasonal practices. Plan and facilitate fortnightly workshops over a 40-week programme, integrating literacy and numeracy unit standards to support diverse student outcomes. Mentor learners toward successful qualification completion and industry readiness while ensuring compliance with NZQA requirements and internal quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working in the apiculture industry, including practical beekeeping (e.g. hive management, bee health, seasonal management, and safe handling practices)
- A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Apiculture or a related Primary Industries field
- Sound knowledge of industry best practice, including bee health management (e.g. AFB awareness and control)
- Proven ability to mentor and engage both youth and adult learners from diverse backgrounds
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to support learners to achieve embedded unit standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence working with diverse groups and maintaining learner motivation
