Job Summary
Operate and drive all types of ground service equipment, performing preventive maintenance per established schedules and conducting diagnostic assessments for troubleshooting. Remove malfunctioning units from service, ensuring repairs are accurately diagnosed before returning equipment to operation. Respond to emergency service calls and accidents, maintaining clean shop conditions while liaising with ramp management and staff. Complete all maintenance documentation consistent with carrier, airport authority, and federal requirements. Reporting to shop leads daily, this role requires a valid driver's license, hydraulic knowledge, and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions year-round, including airport deicing training during snow and ice events. Overtime is necessary during weather emergencies. Full-time employees receive health benefits, 401(k) with match, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Trade school training
- Mechanical background
- Good oral and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Willingness to clean and maintain a safe workshop
- Willingness to travel when necessary for training or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required
- Hydraulic knowledge or basics
- Willingness to learn hydraulic systems
- Airport deicing training
- Willingness to report to work during snow, ice and cold weather
- Willingness to work overtime during weather emergencies
- Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions year-round
- Motor vehicle driver's license in good standing for both air side and non airside
- Ability to comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority and carrier security requirements
- Ability to follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and SP management
Desired Qualifications
- Trade school training and or a mechanical background preferred
