Job Summary
Lead complex geotechnical and structural monitoring programs for major infrastructure, tunneling, and transit projects from initial bid support to final decommissioning. Own the execution of multiple I&M projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards, aligning with budgets, and controlling costs through efficient personnel and equipment use. Review and approve monitoring programs, instrument plans, and method statements while overseeing automated and manual network designs. Serve as the primary liaison for owners, general contractors, and lead designers, facilitating review and alert meetings to provide technical consultation during exceedance events. Mentor coordinators and technicians, aligning field schedules with deadlines and ensuring all activities comply with municipal, provincial, and project-specific specifications. Interpret complex contract documents to mitigate risk and fulfill obligations, synthesizing data into executive reports for non-technical owners. Split time between the corporate office and frequent site visits for client meetings and audits, with availability for emergency consultation outside standard hours if critical trigger levels are breached.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- 5–8+ years of progressive experience in I&M
- at least 2 years in a management or lead role on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of the GTA construction market
- specific knowledge of Metrolinx, TTC, or MTO monitoring standards and current projects
- Proven ability to negotiate with clients
- Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations on active construction sites
- Advanced understanding of the 'Critical Path' in construction
- Advanced knowledge of data visualization platforms and related software
- Ability to assist the estimating team with technical proposals and bid costings for new work
- Ability to synthesize complex data into executive-level summary reports for non-technical project owners
- Split between the corporate office and frequent site visits for client meetings, audits, and managing field activities
- Must be available for emergency consultation outside of standard hours if critical trigger levels are breached on-site
