Job Summary
I&E Technician at Bakelite responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, process instrumentation, and process control systems in industrial chemical manufacturing. You will support safe, reliable plant operations by ensuring electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems comply with safety, environmental, regulatory, and process safety requirements. Responsibilities include installing and calibrating field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level), maintaining control valves and actuators, performing loop checks and functional testing, maintaining DCS/PLC/HMI-based control systems, providing technical support during abnormal operations and incidents, and ensuring documentation and CMMS records are up to date. The role involves working in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals, with willingness to overtime, on-call, nights, weekends, and plant outages as required. Strong emphasis on safety policies, NFPA 70E, PSM, LOTO, and continuous improvement through root cause analysis and collaboration with operations, engineering, and EHS teams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3–5 years’ experience as an I&E Technician in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of Industrial electrical systems, Process instrumentation and calibration, PLC/DCS-based control systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and electrical drawings
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe systems
