Job Summary
I&E Technician responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, process instrumentation, and process control systems in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, calibrates and maintains field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters; control valves, actuators, and positioners), and supports DCS/PLC/HMI-based control systems. Ensures safety, environmental, regulatory, and process-safety compliance (OSHA, NFPA 70E, PSM); reads and interprets P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics; documents calibration and maintenance in CMMS; collaborates with operations, engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams; supports control-system changes, upgrades, and incident investigations. Requires ability to work in industrial environments, willingness to overtime/on-call, and strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3–5 years’ experience as an I&E Technician in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial electrical systems
- Process instrumentation and calibration
- PLC/DCS-based control systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and electrical drawings
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe systems
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or specialty chemical operations (preferred)
- Experience with DCS/PLC platforms (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell, Rockwell, Siemens)
- CMMS experience (SAP or Maximo)
- NFPA 70E electrical safety training or certification
