I&C Engineer

Job Summary
Collaborate with I&C, mechanical, and system engineering teams to support detailed design for ITER fusion energy development. Check and back-check drawings, develop Piping and Instrument Drawings, and design panel wiring, layouts, and enclosure cooling. Produce control system I/O lists, power distribution diagrams, and state transition diagrams while writing hardware and software requirements specifications. Specify PLC systems, vacuum gauges, and controllers; author procedures for instrumentation qualification in high magnetic field and radiation areas. Draft factory acceptance test procedures and statements of work for design and fabrication. Work independently and in teams with international travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of I&C engineering and design practices including drawings, specifications, and codes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically as required
- Excellent writing skills to be able to write coherent design documents
- Must be a self-starter able to work both independently and in a team
- Proficient in use of office automation tools, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance
- 5+ years of both I&C engineering design and hands-on experience
- P&ID preparation
- PLC system design
- Enclosure design
- Cable design
- Control software design
- Cable/harness design
- SEE Electrical Expert or similar CAD electrical design software
- IEC standards and CE-compliance
- Siemens S7 PLC and/or EPICS programming
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ITER project
- Previous large-scale plant design experience
- Experienced in development of state transition diagrams, electrical load lists, and wiring diagrams
- Experience with PLC architecture design, programming, test and validation
