Hydrovac Operator

Job Summary
Drive hydrovac equipment to excavate underground utility lines, pipelines, and structures while performing pre- and post-trip inspections, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining water levels. Operate NG Company vehicles safely, complete all required local, state, and federal paperwork, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety procedures. Lead teams during operations, maintain clean job sites, and attend mandatory training sessions. Work flexible construction hours including nights and weekends, travel short distances, and handle physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds and working in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Class B CDL required with Airbrake and Tanker Endorsement
- Pass a pre-employment physical
- Pass a criminal background check and safety performance verification
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be able to work in all outdoor elements for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions and noisy environments
- Be able to work extended hours and variable shifts
- Be able to wear all required PPE
- Be able to climb ladders and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights
- Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients
- Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be willing to travel for short periods of time as needed
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, to include occasional nights and weekends
- Able to lead and direct a team to perform duties in a safe and timely manner
- Must be able to drive and operate all Hydrovac functions
- Knowledge of and comply with DOT Regulations
- Ability to troubleshoot and, as needed, perform minor repairs to equipment
- Ability to read and interpret maps, instructions, and work orders
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must possess and exhibit a strong safety acumen
Desired Qualifications
- Underground utility and/or construction experience
- 12 months of Heavy Equipment Operation experience
- Previous hydrovac, trucking, vacuum truck or other related industrial experience
