Job Summary
Hydromechanical Engineer to support mission-critical naval test systems, primarily based in Memphis, TN with potential work at Bethesda, MD. Design and develop hydromechanical and fluid power solutions; apply analytical methods to optimize system performance; troubleshoot hydraulic and mechanical machinery; perform system modeling, validation, and performance analysis; work hands-on with equipment for testing and maintenance; use CAD to develop/modify designs; conduct or support FEA; interpret drawings and documentation; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; ensure adherence to industrial safety standards; provide clear technical documentation and reporting. Strong background in fluid dynamics, mechanical design, CAD, and FEA required; naval/DoD experience preferred; U.S. security clearance may be applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Can substitute 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 3+ years of related hands-on mechanical engineering experience
- Experience in industrial, heavy manufacturing, waterworks, or similar environments preferred
- Strong background in fluid dynamics and mechanical design
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and practices
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Department of Defense programs
- Experience in naval or laboratory test system environments
- Experience performing root cause analysis on complex mechanical systems
- Knowledge of military standards and specifications
