Job Summary
The Hydrogen Operator monitors and operates plant equipment and systems to ensure proper operation, including startup/shutdown of major and auxiliary equipment, routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, greasing, filter changes, cleaning), calibration and maintenance of analytical equipment, and maintaining accurate daily logs. The role requires diagnosing problems, following emergency procedures during abnormal operation, and contributing to SOP development and plant improvement while ensuring compliance with regulations. The candidate should have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a 24/7 hydrogen processing facility, and effective communication within a team. The position is based at the Hydrogen Plant in St. Gabriel, LA, and involves working a 12-hour swing shift with potential travel up to 15% and on-site work in a hazardous environment with required PPE.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation or chemical industry preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to work in inclement weather for short periods of time
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Ability to wear safety equipment and work in confined spaces
- Ability to pass a respirator physical and wear PPE (mask, glasses)
- Mechanical or electrical experience – trade related in Industrial Maintenance or Operations
- Experience operating and monitoring electric generators, chillers, compressors, and auxiliary equipment
