Job Summary
Oversee hydro excavation crews in the field, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely work through daily activity management, site inspections, and quality control. Operate hydro excavation vacuum trucks and related equipment to excavate and remove soil and debris, while potholing existing utilities with precision. Coordinate with local officials, management, and customers; track materials and aggregates; and file complete daily paperwork. Manage crew needs and progress updates to the project manager, ensuring proper disposal of excavated materials and site restoration. Travel to assigned job sites and assist in training crews as needed. May schedule and coordinate subcontractors related to hydro excavation. Requires OSHA 30, CDL, DOT Medical Card, and Confined Space training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
- Possess and maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hydro excavation operations
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications related to utility location and excavation
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with crew, leadership, and customers
- Ability to manage crews
- Ability to drive and operate company vehicles and hydro excavation equipment
- Ability to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies' safety standards
- Ability to utilize proper safety equipment
- Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
- Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
- Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear

- Flagger Certification

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with utility locating is highly desired
- Bilingual Spanish and English speaking preferred
