Job Summary

Measure and record hydrometeorological data, including water levels, rainfall, net radiation, wind speed, and evaporation. Assist in installing, calibrating, testing, and maintaining hydrometeorologic instrumentation used in data collection. Contact agricultural water use permittees to collect permissions for monitoring and obtain signed Permissive Use Agreements. Use ultrasonic flow meters and acoustic velocity meters to measure discharge at hydrologic monitoring sites. Maintain field notes and data collection documentation in paper and electronic form. Design, construct, and install monitoring sites. Considered mission critical and serves as part of the Incident Command Team.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid drivers' license
  • Experience in agriculture or electrical, plumbing, and/or carpentry trades
  • Experience with efficiently and safely operating tools and machinery such as a post-hole digger, weed-eater, drill, or chainsaw
  • Experience with operating and backing a truck and trailer to a specific location
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in hydrometeorologic or water related data collection
