Job Summary

Operate hydro testing and belling equipment while preparing pipe for inspection, including making belling calculations and performing end preparation with cutting torches and power tools. Inspect, clean, and perform basic preventative maintenance on machines, maintaining all required paperwork and housekeeping within production areas. Read blueprints and schematics, properly mark pipe with spray paint or stamps, and identify unsafe working conditions to report to management. Comply with OSHA safety requirements and wear all personal protective equipment throughout the shift.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have the ability to operate oxygen acetylene & natural gas cutting torch
  • Must have the ability to operate power tools
  • Must have the ability to operate air grinders
  • Must be able to use precision measuring equipment including but not limited to measuring tape and 100th diameter tape
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, multitask and work independently with attention to detail
  • Ability to work against and meet deadlines
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to exert 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Must have close visual acuity to 20 inches or less
  • Must have peripheral vision
  • Must have depth perception
  • Must have color vision
  • Must have distance vision of 20 feet or more

  • Must be able to perform hydro testing of pipe
  • Must be able to make belling calculations involving the addition and subtraction of fractions
  • Must be able to bell pipe per specifications
  • Must be able to perform end preparation of pipe including cutting of bevels, miters and square cutting
  • Must be able to maintain all required paperwork associated with hydro and belling applications
  • Must be able to inspect, clean and perform basic preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Must be able to maintain housekeeping within all production, storage and waste areas
  • Must be able to follow all work instructions, procedures, and job safely analysis (JSA's)
  • Must be able to read drawings
  • Must be able to properly identify (mark) pipe with the use of spray paint or stamps
  • Must be able to identify and report any unsafe working conditions or equipment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate issues to management
  • Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance
  • Must be able to safely operate overhead crane
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift
  • Must be able to propose standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analysis(JSAs)
  • Must be able to perform duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • Preference given to individuals who have previous Hydro / Belling experience
  • 1 year pipe finish experience preferred
