Job Summary
The role focuses on professional installation of wet kits and hydraulic systems for PTOs on heavy-duty Class 8 diesel trucks, with diagnostics and repairs of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Responsibilities include installing hydraulic pumps, tanks, lines, valves, and PTO systems, diagnosing leaks and pressure/functional failures, servicing diesel engines and related components, ensuring DOT safety and OEM guidelines, documenting work orders, and collaborating with senior mechanics on build configurations. Candidates should have 3+ years as a diesel mechanic (at least 1 year in hydraulics/wet-kit installs), own tools, proficiency with diagnostic equipment and power tools, and a valid driver’s license (Class A/B preferred). The position is full-time in the Long Beach shop and requires adherence to safety protocols, PPE usage, and standard maintenance practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with at least 1 year specializing in hydraulic systems and wet kit installs
- Knowledge of PTO systems, hydraulic pump setups, tank configurations, and control mechanisms
- Must have own tools and experience using diagnostic equipment and power tools
- Working knowledge of diesel engine systems (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, etc.), DEF systems, electrical diagnostics, and air brake systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
- Must hold a valid driver’s license; Class A or B license preferred but not required
