Job Summary
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hydraulic system failures using root-cause analysis, perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance, and repair or replace defective components like pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders. Install new hydraulic systems and components, align them for safe operation, and maintain accurate documentation of all activities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Read technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer instructions to guide repairs and provide technical training to junior technicians. This physically active role requires lifting 50 pounds, working at heights, and extended hours in outdoor weather conditions with high heat and noise. You will work under the direction of the Millwright Foreman at our Poplarville, Mississippi manufacturing facility, supporting DSC Dredge's production of cutter suction dredges for global mining and environmental projects.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent industry-related experience
- Minimum age of 18
- 5 or more years of proven experience as a Hydraulic Technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing or marine/industrial environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems
- Experience with a variety of hydraulic systems and machinery
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing (drug screen and physical) and random drug and alcohol testing
- You must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds
- You must be able to work at heights
- You must be able to work extended hours and weekends when required
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a technical training program in hydraulics preferred
