Hydraulic Engineer (Civil/Water Resources)
On-siteLagos, Lagos, Nigeria
Job Summary
Conduct full hydraulic and drainage design lifecycles, including catchment analysis, flood risk assessments, and the production of construction-ready drawings and Bills of Quantities. Personally size stormwater networks, model 1D/2D hydraulic systems using HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM, and detail structures such as culverts, weirs, and detention ponds. Coordinate with planning, roads, and structural teams while reviewing junior output for code compliance and constructability. Perform periodic site visits to verify installations and resolve design queries during construction. This role supports Alaro City's urban development within Lagos State, leveraging expertise in sustainable drainage systems and climate-resilient infrastructure.

- Verifiable portfolio of drainage and hydraulic design drawings, calculation packages and reports personally produced on completed projects
- Hands-on proficiency in EPA SWMM and InfoDrainage
- Ability to build, run and interpret hydraulic network models independently
- HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) and HEC-HMS for hydrologic and river/floodplain hydraulic modelling and flood-hazard mapping
- EPANET and WaterGEMS (water), SewerGEMS (sewer) for pressurised and gravity network design and analysis
- Strong drafting and modelling proficiency in Civil 3D (grading, corridors, pipe and pressure networks), Revit and AutoCAD
- Ability to model, annotate, schedule and produce construction-ready sheets independently

- Sharp problem-solving and analytical thinking, with a structured, calculation-based approach to design decisions
- High attention to detail, particularly in drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications
- Good coordination skills for working across planning, roads, structural, MEP and contractor interfaces
- Resilience and adaptability; comfortable balancing focused design work in the office with periodic site visits
- Strong commitment to safety, ethics and professional integrity
