Job Summary
Create a virtual classroom culture of high achievement for students with disabilities, delivering daily instruction through clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments aligned to the Stride K12 curriculum. Incorporate creative, hands-on learning experiences that broaden student exposure and require application of knowledge, while utilizing research-based literacy strategies across all content areas. Communicate regularly with families to identify student talents, interests, and needs, and update parents regarding achievements and progress. Collaborate with school-based staff in staff meetings and professional learning sessions to enhance the student experience. Exhibit in-depth knowledge of students with disabilities, including specific learning disabilities and autism, leading students to high levels of academic success through rigorous, targeted, and differentiated instruction. Track individual student progress and adjust teaching practices using data-driven approaches to ensure understanding. Comply with federal and state special education regulations, including IEPs and procedural safeguards, while providing ongoing support for parents regarding special education rights. Maintain high professional standards in communication with students, teachers, and administrators within a hybrid environment involving virtual collaboration and periodic in-person reporting for testing, field trips, and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above
- 2+ years relevant urban teaching experience
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- At least ONE of the following: Successful completion of the content area ETS Praxis II Exam, Valid Special Education Teaching License, Degree in content area
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the role preferred
- Commitment to providing a world-class education through an online platform for students who have a medical exemption and cannot attend school in person
- Experience with providing online educational services is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Significant academic gains strongly preferred
