Job Summary
Counsel borrowers on methods to bring loans current and explore alternative solutions such as loan modifications, short sales, and refinancing. Evaluate borrowers' ability to pay, collect financial information, and negotiate reasonable payment arrangements while striving for first-call resolution. Conduct inbound and outbound calls using an automated dialing system to provide status on payments, payoff inquiries, and loss draft requests. Assist with loan servicing functions including processing requests for mortgage assistance, verifying payment history, and resolving escrow or closing document inquiries. Escalate complex cases to licensed loss mitigation associates as needed. Perform duties in compliance with all applicable US state and federal laws and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Less than one (1) year collections experience in a customer service/call center environment and /or loan servicing experience
- Knowledge of or ability to learn requirements of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
- Knowledge of relevant and industry-specific computer software packages
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic to Intermediate math skills
- Ability to understand basic collection issues and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions
- Ability to apply state, federal and company requirements and make proper decisions
- Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the Banking, Mortgage/Loan Servicing industries preferred
