Job Summary
Oversee payroll administration for W2, 1099, and K-1 tax classifications while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies across multiple states, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Supervise and mentor Senior Payroll Analysts, develop complex payroll analytics, and monitor changes in tax laws and benefits requirements. Provide expert support to HR leadership on policy matters and benefit administration, including 401(k) and Cash Balance Plans. Requires 10+ years of experience in legal or professional services firms, proficiency in ADP or Paychex, and advanced Excel skills. Full-time hybrid role in downtown Syracuse with excellent benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- 10+ years of payroll administration experience
- Experience managing payroll for W2 and 1099
- Knowledge of K-1 tax classification
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and processes
- Understand the flow of data from payroll to the general ledger
- Knowledge of 401(k) payroll administration
- Intermediate Excel experience
- Highly proficient with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and relevant labor laws
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Minimum of one years' benefit administration experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Qualifications

- knowledge of Cash Balance Plan
- Advanced MS Skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUP and data analysis experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve compliance issues
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create and interpret complex payroll reports
- high attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
