Job Summary
Hy-Chi Department Cook at Hy-Vee. Prepare foods for the Hy-Chi department, including cooking soups first and meats, preparing vegetables and ready sauces with spices, and placing food in hot and cold cases. Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service, work as a team with coworkers, maintain the Hy-Chi kitchen, and ensure adherence to personal hygiene and store guidelines. Responsibilities include assisting customers by guiding them to products, loading/unloading items, taking orders when necessary, keeping work area clean, stocking cases, and preparing items for the next day. Requires basic math abilities, ability to follow written/verbal instructions, and the physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Education: High school or equivalent; 18+ required. Physical conditions include exposure to noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals; the role is in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
