Job Summary
Hy-Chi Department Cook at Hy-Vee prepares various foods for the Hy-Chi department, including hot and cold cases, and provides courteous, friendly service. Responsible for cooking with woks (gas heat), preparing soups, vegetables, ready sauces, and combining ingredients with meat; ensures food is placed in hot and cold cases, monitors quantities, and maintains kitchen cleanliness. Requires strong customer service, teamwork, ability to follow detailed instructions, basic math for portioning, and adherence to personal hygiene and store guidelines. Night and weekend shifts are required; starting wage ranges from $14.00 to $17.50 per hour depending on experience; employment contingent upon pre-employment drug screen.
