Job Summary
HVC Post-Op Recovery Nurse (Cardiac) manages and coordinates perioperative and post-operative cardiac patient care on a dedicated unit, under supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Responsibilities include assessing and planning individualized care, implementing and evaluating plans, supervising non-RN staff, serving as charge nurse, and providing education to patients and families. Role requires competency in neuro assessment, airway management for neuro patients, tracheostomy care, care for ventilated patients, and familiarity with cardiothoracic ICU practices, ECMO/IABP/Impella devices, and post-operative cardiac surgery care. The position emphasizes applying core nursing standards, professional behavior, and contributing to performance improvement within the Cardiac ICU/CTICU settings.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- BCLS certification or within one month of hire
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
