Job Summary
The RN provides patient-centered cardiovascular care in Yale New Haven Health System units (HVC Cardiac Medical Intermediate Care, Cardiac Surgery Intermediate Care/Stepdown, and related cardiac units). Responsibilities follow ANA standards of nursing practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, health teaching, and evaluation, with emphasis on collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The role emphasizes leadership, ethics, cultural congruence, communication, and professional practice evaluation, with accountability to scope and standards of practice and a focus on delivering quality, evidence-based nursing care for cardiac patients. Licensure as a Connecticut RN is required and clinical specialty certification is encouraged; BSN is preferred. The unit descriptions reference post-operative and interventional cardiovascular care across multiple 26- to 30-bed units.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- BSN preferred
- BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged
- Experience: RN foundational role; encouraged to advance through SPIRE clinical advancement program
