Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in Yale New Haven Health System’s HVC Heart Failure/Cardiac units delivers high-quality, patient-centered cardiac care in inpatient settings. Responsibilities include establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and families, communicating and coordinating with the health care team, assessing patient needs, diagnosing and identifying outcomes, planning and implementing a care plan, and evaluating progress. The role follows ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model, emphasizes ethics, culturally congruent practice, leadership, education, and evidence-based care, and requires CT licensure with BSN preferred. The unit focuses on cardiovascular medical care, intermediate care, step-down, and post-operative management for procedures such as CABG, valve replacement, pacemaker/ICD, and electrophysiology, with a strong emphasis on health promotion, safety, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- BCLS certification required or to be obtained within one month of hire
