Job Summary

Install, repair, and service heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Monitor, troubleshoot, and adjust computerized building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and alignment with facility plans. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls issues while utilizing electronic testing equipment for commissioning and calibration. Provide technical recommendations to management regarding system settings, operational adjustments, and equipment selection. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and post-incident evaluations, maintaining accurate records and scheduling repair requests. Work outdoors in all seasons and respond to service requests to protect museum collections and ensure visitor comfort.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 or more total years of hands-on HVAC experience
  • Valid HVAC license
  • Knowledge and experience to install, service, troubleshoot and repair a variety of HVAC systems
  • HVAC installation experience
  • Boiler systems experience
  • Heat pump systems experience
  • Mini-split systems experience
  • Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems experience
  • Rooftop HVAC units experience
  • Ability to frequently work above and below grade level that include ladders, crawl or other confined spaces
  • Ability to safely operate heavy machinery and aerial lifts
  • Ability to operate and maintain light equipment and tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to complete ductwork drawings and facilitate installation
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons (including sunny and inclement weather) as necessary
  • Flexibility with on-call scheduling and availability as needed during evenings, weekends, and short-notice situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or a related field
  • Completion of a recognized technical or trade school HVAC certification program
  • Ability to fabricate and modify sheet metal components using standard HVAC tools and equipment
  • Tolerance for hot and cold temperatures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels
  • Proven ability to build trust, collaborate, and drive change within a dynamic environment
  • Strong written, verbal, and active listening skills with excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Personal qualities of humility, self-awareness, self-reflection, and emotional intelligence

  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently without direct supervision
