Job Summary
Cleans air conditioning and heating units, including coils and condensation pans, to ensure safe operation. Diagnoses causes of failures in heating and air conditioning systems to identify repair or replacement needs. Installs, repairs, and maintains HVAC equipment and components such as pumps, motors, and piping. Implements comprehensive preventive maintenance programs throughout the District and responds to emergency situations during or after hours. Coordinates with assigned leads, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently. Fabricates equipment parts to meet specialty needs and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment for safe availability. Prepares written materials documenting activities and communicates work order status to personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Certified Refrigerant Technician
- Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios
- Ability to read technical information
- Ability to compose a variety of documents
- Ability to facilitate group discussions
- Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions
- Knowledge of indoor air monitoring equipment and interpretation of resulting data
- Knowledge of standards for design and construction
- Knowledge of air conditioning and heating codes
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions
- Skill to operate equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance on HVAC equipment
- Skill to plan and manage projects
- Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records
- Skill to handle hazardous materials
