Job Summary
HVAC Technician sought to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial environments. Read and interpret plans and schematics to determine installation details; install and service components such as furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air handling units, chillers, and related ductwork; test systems for leaks, pressure, operation, and energy efficiency; determine duct and piping layouts and install supports; cut, weld, braze, and assemble piping and ductwork; install and maintain control systems, thermostats, and safety devices; troubleshoot issues, locate refrigerant leaks, and address airflow obstructions; perform preventive maintenance and keep maintenance records; ensure installations comply with Quebec HVAC codes and CSA standards; collaborate with project teams, trades, and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid HVAC Technician Qualification Certificate (e.g., Certificate of Qualification in Refrigeration, Ventilation, Heating, and Air Conditioning)
- DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Refrigeration, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or equivalent relevant training
- Relevant experience as an HVAC technician in the commercial or industrial sector
- Excellent knowledge of current HVAC codes and standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and schematics
- Proficiency with tools and equipment specific to the HVAC trade (e.g., manifold gauges, vacuum pump, leak detector, specialized hand tools)
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
- Valid driver's license (an asset)
