Job Summary
Foreperson, HVAC oversees HVAC projects and budgets, orders materials, and supervises a team of HVAC technicians and apprentices, coordinating with contractors and RPS staff to ensure safe, code-compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, RTUs, control systems). Responsibilities include estimating project requirements and costs, scheduling, monitoring labor and material costs, preparing records/reports, ensuring compliance with mechanical codes and EPA/safety regulations, and coordinating with other trades to ensure timely project completion. Requires strong leadership, budgeting, communication, and technical expertise in HVAC, with a Master Mechanical License and a minimum of five years journeyman-level experience; OSHA 10/30 and LOTO training are required; bilingual Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Minimum of five years of experience at a journeyman level in HVAC/Mechanical work
- supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Current Master Mechanical License
- Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record
- Knowledge and skills in estimating time and materials
- Interpretation of blueprints/mechanical drawings
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems
- Local building/mechanical codes
- General HVAC guidelines and procedures
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety training
- Ability to interpret and work from instructions, guidelines, regulations, and policies
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual/proficiency in Spanish preferred
- Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Office Suite
