Job Summary
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems in underground and surface mining environments. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on compressors, chillers, boilers, and spray chambers while reading blueprints to diagnose equipment failures. Rebuild semi-hermetic and centrifugal compressors, install copper and steel tubing, and conduct boiler water quality tests and burner adjustments. Complete maintenance work orders, perform data input for inventory tracking, and participate in risk assessments and SOP development. Adhere to MSHA rules, environmental regulations, and safety protocols while working rotating shifts in humid, underground conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Technical certificate from an accredited air conditioning and refrigeration training program
- Type I and type II refrigeration license to comply with Federal law 40CFR part 82, subpart F
- Must be able to access equipment information using electronic devices (i.e. laptop computer, tablet)
- Computer literate with at least basic skills in Excel, Word and MS Outlook
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- ATF possessors clearance required
- Must complete MSHA 40-hour training or provide 5000-23 documentation of completed training
- Must pass physical and drug screen, and essential functions capacity test
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team
- Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures, especially with regard to Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental
- Must be able to work on nights, weekends, and rotating shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a mine setting preferred
