Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems on aviation ground support equipment including tow tractors, belt loaders, and deicers. Perform routine inspections, leak checks, pressure tests, and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability. Install, retrofit, and upgrade components while handling refrigerants in strict EPA compliance. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory. Partner with GSE mechanics, electricians, and engineering staff to integrate HVAC work with other repair tasks. Based at the Overhaul Facility in Elkhart, IN, this role focuses specifically on specialized airport equipment rather than general mechanical repairs.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of HVAC experience in aviation, heavy equipment, or similar industries
- Strong understanding of HVAC system diagnostics, refrigerant cycles, and repair technique
- Ability to read technical manuals and troubleshoot equipment efficiently
- A proactive, safety-first mindset
- Strong teamwork skills
- Willingness to stay current on industry standards and best practices through training
Desired Qualifications
- EPA Section 608 certification or equivalent
- Med/Heavy Truck Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
- Universal HVAC certification
